I've been doing genealogy work today on some German ancestors. I found that my 6th great grandfather had a first wife. Sadly, she died very young, as did all of their children.
Philipp Jacob Schwartz married Anna Margaretha Faath
They had:
Eva Margaretha (7 Oct 1774 - 15 Oct 1774)
Maria Magdalena (7 Oct 1774 - 11 July 1775)
Philipp (7 Oct 1774 - 15 Oct 1774)
Johann Adam (8 Feb 1777 - 29 Oct 1779)
Yes, that is a set of triplets, and they didn't have fertility medications back then. ;)
Anna Margaretha died when Johann Adam was just 5 months old. I can not imagine how much pain this couple must have gone through losing all of their children, then Philipp who also lost his wife. It must have been unbearable. It would be for me.

Bethia
Yesterday while i was doing some genealogy work, i found one of my 11th great grandmothers. Her name was Bethia Hopkins. She married Samuel Stocking in Connecticut. I think this is really neat because Bethia has been on my favorite names list for quite some time. Bethia can be a variation of the Hebrew Bithia meaning "daughter (worshiper) of Jehovah or from the Scottish Beathag meaning "Life".

Bad blogger!
It seems i've neglected this for almost 8 months..oops! I've been doing a lot of genealogy work during that time and i was without internet for 2 months too. I have almost 2000 people in my tree now and growing! I've also decided recently that i don't really want to be a midwife anymore. I'm going to go back to school for Anthropology. I think this is a better fit for me. I still love midwifery, but i think i'd do better in Anthropology. I have to talk to an adviser at the local community college to see what i need to do and if there are any classes i can take there that i'll need at the localish big college. I also need to look for scholarships and financial aid. This is scary for this BIG introvert, but exciting as well. After 5 years of not being in school, i hope i do well!
